OPEN MANIFESTATION "GUARDIANS OF TRADITION"
Tonight, in the beautiful setting of the Yunus Emre Institute terrace, the cultural event "Guardians of Tradition" was officially opened, marking two important anniversaries for the City of Mostar: twenty years since the Old Bridge was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and twenty-one years since the restoration of the symbol of the city on the Neretva River.
This cultural evening was aimed at promoting the rich heritage of Mostar, with musical and artistic performances and the opportunity to buy authentic products.
The President of the City Council of the City of Mostar, Mr. Đani Rahimić, addressed the audience and pointed out: "Today we celebrate two important anniversaries in the City of Mostar. It is the anniversary of the renovation of the Old Bridge and the anniversary of the entry of the Old Bridge into the UNESCO World Heritage List. On this occasion, we organized a two-day event calledGuardians of tradition. Here we invited all those who participated in the restoration of the Old Bridge in order to thank them and present their work. Tonight, local artists and artisans will participate with their handicrafts, the Women's Association will present our traditional dishes, as well as cultural and artistic societies that will present the costumes and customs of all peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina."
Rahimić added that in this way we present, inherit and share our rich tradition and intangible heritage.
The attendees were also addressed by Chief Advisor Ines Sulić on behalf of the City of Mostar, who emphasized that the City of Mostar, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, can achieve a lot through cooperation, expertise and the richness of cultural identity.
ManifestationGuardians of tradition continues tomorrow (July 22, 2025) with the central event - the Divanhana concert on the plateau below the Old Bridge starting at 9:00 p.m.
