In the beautiful surroundings of the courtyard of the Yunus Emre Institute in Mostar, tonight, as part of the International
cultural event "Mostar Summer 2026" promotion of the book "Winter of the Bride" by the author
Enes Karić.
"I am pleased to be a guest of the National Library of Mostar and its director, Omer Mičijević, tonight, and to
this way, by promoting my novel, I participate and contribute to the International Cultural Program
event 'Mostar Summer'. This is also the first promotion of the novel in Mostar, as well as my first
participation in the event 'Mostar Summer', which is a great honor for me. 'Winter Bride' are my
the seventh novel in a row. The story is painful, but instructive and carries a strong message "no to war". The novel is about
the fate of a Bosnian Muslim, a Bosniak from the village, who at the age of only 18 found himself
in SS divisions in Germany. He participated in the campaign against Moscow, was captured in 1943 near Kursk,
after which, as a Russian prisoner, he was forced to participate in the battles for the conquest of Berlin. Then
was captured again and spent the next ten years in Siberia. Exactly about that dramatic fate in life
tells the story of the novel "Winter of the Bride", which recently won the 1st prize "Derviš Sušić" in Tuzla from
Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Tuzla Canton," Karić pointed out.
In addition to the author, Dr. Lejla Boškailo also spoke about the novel.
On the "Mostar Summer" schedule tomorrow (Friday, July 24th), the audience can expect the performance "Night of Summer Magic"
illusionist Stefano Diničija, which will be held at the Mostar Cultural Center starting at 8:30 p.m.
