The new play by the Croatian National Theatre in Mostar, “The Cup,” was created in co-production with the Croatian Theatre Travnik and the Travnik Theatre Workshop. The play is based on a short story by Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andrić, and the premiere is scheduled for Saturday, October 11 at 8 p.m. at the Croatian House of Herceg Stjepan Kosača. The director is Sonja Jovandić, and the roles are played by Miro Barnjak and Matej Baškarad. The play is about heritage, tradition, and staying. At a time when many are leaving their homes, this play says that no one is waiting for us in a foreign land. Although times are difficult, they will get better someday, but it is difficult to live where you were born. All of this is shown through a conversation between two friars, Friar Nikola and Friar Petar, who nevertheless remain here and cherish the centuries-old Franciscan tradition.

Brief description of the event:
"Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams, directed by Ivan Planinić, Mris a Croatian drama set in the home of the American Wingfield family, centered around mother Amanda, daughter Laura, son Tom (also the narrator), and guest Jim O'Connor. Although it was translated and premiered in Zagreb in the early 1950s, and then in other theater environments of the former Yugoslavia,Yugoslavia, and is rightly considered one of the common places in every repertoire, “Glass menagerie“ actually did not have an overly rich stage life on professional stages in Bosnia and Herzegovina. What can be stated with certainty is that this Mostar production is the first of the 21st century.
