Workshop and novel promotion tonight as part of the "Mostar Summer"

Tonight (Thursday, July 16), as part of the International Cultural Manifesto "Mostar Summer", there are two events on the program: the workshop "Weaving Carpets" and the promotion of the novel "Cinnamon Letters, Diamond Creatures" by Faruk Šehić.

At 19:00 at the Yunus Emre Mostar Institute, a workshop "Carpet weaving" will be held.

At the carpet weaving workshop, led by educator Fikreta Zolj, participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics and details of this special traditional artistic technique. Through practical work, they will learn how unique motifs and patterns are created, master the basic steps of weaving, and with expert guidance, create their own original works. The workshop is intended for everyone who wants to develop creativity, gain new experience, and learn about the rich tradition of carpet making.

At 8 p.m., the Mostar National Library will host the promotion of the novel "Cinnamon Letters, Diamond Creatures" by Faruk Šehić.

"Cinnamon Letters, Diamond Creatures (a saga of survivors)", above all, is an organic and luminous fiction book about the first war and love, destruction and creation of the world, written with the polyphonic memory and imagination of survivors as a kind of continuation of the text of the holy books, with the characters of Cortez Cortez and Cinnamon Girl as its heart and the simultaneous counterparts and antipodes of Adam/Adem and Eve/Heva. At its end, a word remains. This is a magical book about love, primarily for words, languages and literature, but also for nature, life, love itself, as well as for ruins, their memory, the culture of remembrance and aesthetics...", wrote Selma Raljević.

The organizers of the "Summer of Mostar" are: Culture Center Mostar, National Theater Mostar, Museum of Herzegovina Mostar, National Library Mostar, Puppet Theater in Mostar and Pavarotti Music Center, in partnership with Yunus Emre Institute Mostar and OKC Abrašević.
