Awards ceremony for Gavran, Bauer and Prosenjak for the best historical novel in contemporary Croatian literature – announcement

Traditional literary event "Kingdom of Words", organized by the Society of Croatian Writers of Herceg Bosna and the Cultural and Information Center Tomislavgrad, will be held November 19, 2025 at 7 p.m. in the KIC cinema in Tomislavgrad.

On that occasion, awards will be presented for the best historical novel in contemporary Croatian literature. To Mira Gavran, Ludvig Bauer and Božidar ProsenjakOn the occasion 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom and the coronation of King Tomislav on Duvno Field, DHK HB and KIC, with the support and in cooperation with the Municipality of Tomislavgrad, announced a competition for the best historical novel in contemporary Croatian literature.

As already announced, first prize Miro Gavran received it for the novel A few birds and one sky, second prize received by Ludwig Bauer for the novel Homeland, oblivion, and third prize Božidar Prosenjak received it for the novel First tie.

In addition to the award winners, the program also includes local authors who will present their work.

During the evening, a multi-award winning short film will be screened. Solitude, which was directed by Bobby Boško Grubić based on the screenplay by Mira Gavrana, and scenes from the feature film Conspirators about Zrinski and Frankopan.
