The pilot project "Creative Bridge" brings together puppeteers from five countries.
Â
The Puppet Theater in Mostar launched the pilot project "Creative Bridge" - an ambitious regional initiative that aims to connect the puppetry scene of Southeast Europe. The project is the result of a Memorandum of Cooperation signed in Plovdiv at the beginning of 2026.
Â
In the first phase of the project, twenty puppeteers from five countries – Bulgaria, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina – are staying in Mostar from June 29 to July 5. Under the mentorship of renowned professor Kata Csato from Hungary, the participants are exploring the theme of abstract thinking in puppetry.
Â
The project brings together the leading puppetry institutions of the region: the Youth Theatre "Nikolaj Binev" from Sofia and the State Puppet Theatre Yambol from Bulgaria, the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre from Slovenia, the Theatre for Children and Youth Kragujevac from Serbia, the Rijeka City Puppet Theatre from Croatia, and the Sarajevo Youth Theatre, the Mostar Puppet Theatre and the Mostar Puppet Theatre from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Â
The vision of the project extends beyond this first workshop - "Creative Bridge" is conceived as a traveling academy of puppetry that in subsequent stages would cover all 13 countries of South-Eastern Europe, including Romania, Moldova, Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro.
Â
The organizers invite all puppeteers from the region to actively participate in this unique initiative.
Â
Tonight at 6 pm, as part of the project, the Showcase process of the new play by the Mostar Puppet Theatre "Come and See" based on the work "Tales from Long Ago" by Ivana Brlić Mažuranić and directed by Mateja Bizjak Petit will be shown.
Â
The implementation of the project was supported by the Government and the Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the HNK, the City of Mostar and the Tourist Board of the HNK.
