As part of the event Mostar Summer 2025, and organized by the Mostar Cultural Center, a concert was held Počitelj tamburitza players. The Počitelj tamburitza players are a recognizable cultural symbol of Počitelj, and with their performances they preserve the tradition of Bosnian sevdalinka and tamburitza music. They operate as part of the Cultural and Artistic Society Počitelj, and their performance combines an emotional, ancient sound and an authentic local interpretation.
Asaf Resulović, the band's leader, points out:
"We were founded exactly a hundred years ago, in 1925. Over the years, different lineups have changed, and we are the fifth generation of tamburitza players. We primarily play sevdalinka and old town songs, but also some recognizable folk songs. We perform at folklore festivals and tamburitza player festivals. This is the first time we have performed as part of the event Mostar summer", which is an exceptional honor and pleasure for us."
Resulović adds that their repertoire is diverse and that they perform songs that are recognizable not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also throughout the region.
"None of us are musicians by profession, our love for music and tradition brought us here," emphasized Resulović.
The tamburitza players from Počitelj participate in numerous international festivals and folklore festivals – they recently performed in Montenegro, where they represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the tamburitza orchestra festival. They often perform in folk costumes that reflect the style of Lower Herzegovina, which further enhances the experience of tradition. Their goal is to preserve the cultural heritage of Počitelj and Herzegovina, but also to connect with similar tamburitza orchestras in the region – connecting people through music.
