Organized by the Mostar Public Library, as part of the Mostar Summer 2025 event, an evening was held dedicated to the memory of two great figures of Bosnian and Herzegovinian literature – Abdulah Sidran and Hadžem Hajdarević. This evening was not only a remembrance of their exceptional contribution to literature and culture, but also an emotional tribute to the words that left a deep mark on the collective memory of our people.
Through poetry, prose and memories, those gathered revived the spirit of their creativity, confirming how important the permanent connection between literature and the identity of a people is.
Omer Mičijević, director of the Mostar National Library, addressed the attendees on behalf of the organizers, emphasizing the importance of marking such evenings of remembrance. The literary evening was attended by Ruždija Adžović, Nusret Omerika, and Rezak Hukanović, and the evening was moderated by Dževdet Tuzlić.
It is important to note that the evening of remembrance was also attended by Miranda Sidran, daughter of Abdullah Sidran, who thanked the organizers and expressed pride in holding this type of literary evening.
Ruždija Adžović, author of the book SIDRAN – living, witnessing an epoch, spoke about the literature of Abdulah Sidran, and emphasized:
"I am honored to present my book SIDRAN - living, witnessing an epoch and talking about my friend Abdulah Sidran - an academic, an inimitable Bosnian and Herzegovinian writer, poet, and world-renowned film screenwriter, as part of this year's Mostar Summer."
I will talk about Sidran, about his unique personality, life, his perception of reality, which is what my book is about. In it, I wanted to 'illuminate' Sidran in a different way, to reveal new facts about his life, creativity, relationships with the people who collaborated with him most closely, to discover previously unknown facts in his screenwriting, poetry and life journey - his path to the throne. And about the very process of creating this book, the numerous gatherings, and the working and informal 'sessions' of Abdullah Sidran and me, a separate book could be written in which numerous anecdotes would dominate.
Nusret Omerika, MA, spoke about the motif of homeland in the poems of Hadžem Hajdarević, as well as the motif of water and the poet's relationship to childhood and parents, emphasizing:
"Hadžem Hajdarević refers to the Quranic verse And from water We created every living thing. I am sure that Hadžem knew this text and its deep relationship to the cult of water. What is particularly interesting about Hadžem's poetry are the titles of the collections - in each of them the motif of water runs like a guiding thread. We can freely say that Hadžem's artistic destiny is inextricably linked to his birthplace and - water."
Verses by Abdulah Sidran and Hadžem Hajdarević were recited by Rezak Hukanović – writer, poet, reciter and journalist.
