The exhibition of photographs Birds over Hum by author Ivan Kelava was opened at the Ivo Andrić Book Club as part of the Mostar Spring 2025 – 27th Days of the Matica Hrvatska Mostar. As the author himself said, the exhibition will feature 20 works with motifs from Herzegovina.
The exhibition was opened by its editor Dragan Marijanović, alongside the author.
President of the Assembly of Matica Hrvatska Mostar, Nada Dalipagić. Dalipagić, among other things, reminded that this is another exceptional art event as part of Spring, which once again puts Mostar on the cultural map not only of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also of the wider area.
– Kelava successfully selects not only the subjects of the photo shoot but also their angles, although this is much easier from the ground. This adds to the attractiveness and spectacularity of the scenes below or past which we pass by without seeing their irresistibility and uniqueness. From completely new angles, many of the exhibited scenes look as if we have never seen them before, with which Kelava opens a photographic book of their new perspectives – emphasized, among others, the editor of the exhibition Dragan Marijanović.
- I want to thank Matica for the opportunity to exhibit as part of the Mostar Spring 2025 event. Being part of your program is an opportunity to show my works to a wider population of photography lovers. So thank you once again and I hope that the exhibition will meet with good reactions from the audience and that this will be just the beginning of a new project in photography for me. This time, in agreement with the coordinator Dragan Marijanović, I chose a series of photos created with the help of a drone. It is a somewhat newer technology for us photographers. It is a relatively small device, which Marijanović and I have long since called a bird, and which goes around my motifs. It is an opportunity, as the introductory speaker said, to see the locations, which we pass by on the way and experience in the usual way, from a completely new perspective. If we catch good light, take a little care about the composition, those are the assumptions for a good photo. So I invited everyone who came to the opening to suggest new locations that should be noted. And believe me, we have already started making a list of them - said the author of the photographs Ivan Kelava, inviting everyone who did not come to the opening to view the photographs in the coming days, and thanked the Ivo Andrić Book Club, the Mostar Photo Club, ZK-Office and his family for their support in the work.
