As part of the art program of Mostar Spring 2025 – 27th Day of Matica Hrvatska Mostar, an exhibition of drawings by Ivan Branko Imrović, a Croatian academic sculptor, was opened at the Gallery of Queen Katarina Kosača, and as one of its editors, Dragan Marijanović, said,
one of the most amazing cartoonists of our time.
The author himself emphasized that he is glad to be exhibiting in Mostar and that this is part of the drawing opus created from 1976 to the present. – At the exhibition of the academic sculptor, a long-time pedagogical worker now retired, we have the opportunity to see about 60 drawings that represent the second part of the gift that we as a gallery received as a gift from the author. It is his practice to donate his works to galleries, and he has already donated them to galleries in Karlovac, Zagreb, Popovača, Široki Brijeg… and here, at the Queen Catherine Gallery. Since we received a large part of the drawings, we are exhibiting them for the second time as part of the agreement from the gift that relates to the exhibition and cataloguing of all works. I had the honor of writing a few words about Imrović's drawing skills, or rather, what I called him, an old-fashioned draftsman. I would especially emphasize the drawings exhibited as spatial installations - in bottles, which carry with them a part of the symbolism because the message in the bottle seeks and always finds the one to whom it is addressed - said Dalibor Nikolić, head of the Queen Katarina Kosača Gallery and one of the exhibition editors.
The President of the Assembly of Matica Hrvatska Mostar, Nada Dalipagić, pointed out that with another impressive art event, namely Imrović's exhibition, Mostar has once again become the center of cultural events not only in BiH but also in the wider region.
Its editor Dragan Marijanović also spoke at the exhibition, and it was opened by Jure Musa, a member of the Presidency of Matica Hrvatska Mostar, among the gathered crowd. Imrović's works can be viewed until May 22nd.
