A member and one of the members of the group passed away in Zagreb on February 25, 2026, at the age of 81.

Stjepan \u010cui\u0107 was born in Bukovica near Tomislavgrad on April 1, 1945. He was educated
in Osijek, and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb with a degree in Russian language and
literature and Yugoslav studies. He was the editor-in-chief of the weekly Tlo, a proofreader of Croatian
language in Bamberg, wrote columns in Vjesnik, Slobodna Dalmacija, etc., was
Editor-in-Chief of the Third Programme of the Croatian Radio, host of the DHK Tribune,
Vice-President and President of the Croatian Writers' Association. He translated from Russian
language (Pushkin, Zinoviev). In literature, it appeared with the so-called generation of fantasy writers,
to which Pavao Pavli\u010di\u0107, Goran Tribuson, Dubravko Jel\u010di\u0107 Bu\u017eimski and Stjepan
\u010cui\u0107 is the most important representative. Since 1961, he has been publishing stories in Modra
Lasti, Revija, Polet, Republica, Forum, Dometi, \u017divot, etc.
His novel The Order in 1981 caused a violent reaction from the authorities at the time, and in 1983.
The performance of the theatrical adaptation of that novel was banned on the eve of the premiere.
The novel Orden was translated into German (Zagreb \u2013 Bamberg, 1991). In addition to

stories; Diary according to the new calendar (novel); The mysterious abyss (novel for
young people); Stories; Island, graphic map (co-authored by Virgilija Nevjesti\u0107); Alphabet
hypocrisy (political essays and commentaries); Pipes of Peace (political essays and
comments); Interceptor (stories); Interpreter of power (columns); Keeper of the sickle and
\u010deki\u0107 (short stories). In addition, Stjepan \u010cui\u0107, or rather his work, is
represented in many anthologies and lexicons and in readers in the Republic
Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He has also received many public recognitions and awards, some of which are: 1971.
the Seven Secretaries of SKOJ award for the collection of Stalin's pictures and other stories, 1972.
award for the magazine Mladost for the collection Stalin's Picture and Other Stories,. award
Ve\u010dernji list (for short story) 1975 and 2021, 1979 "Zijo Dizdarevi\u0107" award,
City of Zagreb Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 and Medallion of the Municipality of Tomislavgrad
2025.
\u00a0Eminent literary historians have written about Stjepan \u010cui\u0107's work,
anthologists, critics and scientists, including: Aleksandar Ili\u0107, Bo\u017eidar
Petra\u010d, Dra\u017een Karaman, Igor Mandi\u0107, Ivan Lovrenovi\u0107, Slobodan Prosperov
Novak and others. The literary works of Stjepan \u010cui\u0107 are registered in all recent
literary and historical reviews of Croatian literature.<\/p>
